If you had told me, in early 2014, that a massive pile of used rope could generate a living I would have laughed out loud. Yet, that's what I have found to be the case. When I walked into the offices of The Maine Float Rope Company, I was looking for a new product to sell. Something simple and that everyone had a need for. I found that and a whole lot more. Simply stated, I formed a partnership and my own manufacturing company.
What I've learned working with these products is that people can be passionate about something as simple as a doormat. Color is everything as witnessed by the doormat shown here. Go Virginia Tech! That's right, the customer that ordered the piece shown here wanted their school's colors right out front where everyone could see.
We also did custom colors to show Naval Academy and biker pride (read famous Hog Manufacturing Company name here). Amazing!
This summer we gained traction with several large interior and exterior design houses thanks to bloggers like gardenista.com and designlively.com as well as our own pinterest pages.
So, go figure! A great year out of old re-claimed rope. We keep it off the beaches and out of landfills and you use them in your kitchens, washrooms, and to adorn your homes.
